Augusta

Sunflower - Day Home Director

My name is Augusta Ramirez, and I am originally from the Philippines. I have lived in Canada since 2009. I am a mother of two adults and 5 beautiful grandchildren. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the Philippines, but children are my passion. I have 20 years of firsthand experience with young children, mostly as a nanny.  My commitment is to provide ongoing and safe supervision of the children focused on the teaching of children in numerous fun and educational activities combined with lessons in personal hygiene and social development. I like to plan age-appropriate activities each day for the children. I consider myself to be a dependable, friendly, helpful, well-organized, hardworking and an honest individual who is willing and eager to learn. I love keeping a high standard of food and cleanliness for your children.

Jiya

Tulip - Day Home Director

I am from the Philippines and I’ve been living in Canada for the past 3 years. I have a degree of Tourism Management and certificate of Teacher Education from Polytechnic University of the Philippines. I’ve been working with Blossom since September 2018. I have a Level 1 Certificate for Child Development. I was always very fond of kids. When I was I the Philippines I liked to babysit my nieces and nephews. I love learning from them, and I love how positive, optimistic and naturally curious they were. I love working with children not only because I get to teach them, but I also learn to look at things on different perspective because they challenge me. There is nothing more rewarding than being a part of the children’s growth and be able to see how they improve in everything they do.

Marilyn

Blue bell - Day Home Director

My name is Marilyn Fernandes, and I am blessed with a loving husband and two wonderful children.

I completed my Bachelor of Commerce and Diploma in Airline and Tourism management. I worked as a Flight Attendant and in the Customer Service industry, which was my passion.

I left the Aviation Industry to be around my babies and started working as a supervisor in a play school after migrating to Calgary from India. I volunteered at St Monica's School in the kindergarten phase and with CCIS (after-school daycare). During this time, I realized that working and helping little learners is what I would love to see myself doing every day.

I am driven to help little children blossom into wonderful, thoughtful, and caring human beings of tomorrow. This gives me immense joy, pleasure, and happiness.

I am blessed to be the eldest daughter in my household. This has turned me into a Home-Grown Nanny. I often babysit all my little cousins and siblings, and this has embedded a natural motherly instinct in me.

I love being around children and focusing on the wellbeing of little learners which is of utmost importance to me. I am committed to providing a safe and fun learning environment for them and by driving the day forward with art, music, sport, and other potential hobbies which will encourage the children to embrace their childhood to the fullest.

I am looking forward to meeting you and your child/children and starting a wonderful journey of abundant learning, love, and positive relationships.

Alba Clavijo

Partner and Academic Director

I have a Bachelor Degree in Education with a focus in Preschool Education. I have more than 25 years of experience teaching children between the ages of 6 moths to 12 years. I love singing with the children, because I have noticed they enjoy singing and learn quickly doing so. I am very hands on.  I love painting and teaching crafts with the children. I enjoy their creativity, imagination, and the joy they get when they see what they can do. I am originally from Colombia but have been in Canada for over 10 years.  I am married and a very proud mother of two young adults. Since I was a child, my dream job was becoming a teacher. Although teaching is my passion it has evolved into an administrative position where I am the Academic Director for Blossom Day Homes.

Cliff Dawson-North

Partner - Administration

I manage the back end at Blossom. My professional background makes me the perfect candidate for the less glamorous side of the business. From accounting to purchasing, and maintenance to  management, I always to have my hands full!  As Miss Alba's family and my wife and myself are family friends I chose to come out of retirement to support Alba's dream of operating a childcare business. My wife were never blessed with children of our own and now I am surrounded by the beautiful children.  This is very fulfilling and satisfying for me.

“Mark 10:14: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."
